Suncoast Pony Clubbers were treated to a behind the scenes tour of Tampa Bay Downs. Penelope Miller gave members and their families a tour of the entire facility including the barns and daily operations of the track. Dr. Owens spoke to SPC and provided detailed information about race horses and their vet care. We were even able to watch a racing tattoo be placed on a filly. It was a very educational and fun day, many thanks to Penelope Miller, Dr. Owens and Tampa Bay Downs for a great experience!

Jenny, a first time unrated clubber received a blue ribbon for the best score for Intro A &B. Our first place team also recieved a first place in Stable Management. WOW!!
We had our challenges with one change of mount the before rally (Sandy substituted for Diamond),a horse scratched due to an eye injury (Blitz) and a horse scratched before it's second ride due to being "off" (Bugzy). All of the advercity was handled well and at the end of the day everyone enjoyed themselves. Our Saturday night Longhorn dinner for 26 was a great time. We lived the slogan "eat drink and be merry". The kids even managed a swim in the pool before bedtime. Thanks to Emma for pulling together a wonderful feast on Friday night and Saturday lunch for the families of the clubbers. Thanks to all of the wonderful Suncoast pony club families for making this another truly pleasurable experience for the entire family.

JUNE 7th 2008
Well, we had another fabulous Pony Club event Saturday June 7th. The rally at Fannin Hill was a lot of fun for all. Our Suncoast Team was the 1st place team and the volunteers were winners as well. Erin V. was our C advisor and Allison Shwartz was our coach. It was a lot of fun seeing the new pony clubbers giving their best shot at this truly challenging event. We had so many really young riders and they were entertaining to say the least. It was so gratifying to see how proud they were when they finished the cross country course!
We are planning to have a pool party/meeting later this month. Details to follow.
